Retirement Process

Once you make the decision to retire, we ask that you notify our office 3-6 months before your effective retirement date. This will help ensure that we are able to provide you with all the relevant information and forms ahead of time and commence your pension on the desired date.

In your retirement notice, please include:

  • Your full name

  • The first 5 digits of your Social Insurance Number

  • Your date of birth

  • Your full address

Once we receive notice of your intent to retire you can expect to receive a retirement statement and any required forms approximately 45 days prior to your retirement date. You will need to complete and return the retirement statement and forms along with copies of several other documents to our office.

Other documents you will be required to provide include, but is not limited to:

  • Copies of birth certificates or passports – for you and your spouse (if applicable)

  • A void cheque or direct deposit form

Upon retirement, Northern Trust Company, Canada (the Fund’s custodian) will begin payments on the first of the month following your date of retirement.
